Ohaupo School Sports Club

Ohaupo School Sports Club (better known as OSSC) is run by a small group of parents
from Ohaupo School. The club has been running for the past four years. OSSC is responsible
for five different sport codes (Athletics, Netball, Soccer, Basketball and Touch Rugby).
OSSC funding is through regular fundraisers as well as through the children’s sport fees. The purchase of new
sports equipment and replacement of sports uniforms are our main focus.

Netball runs from mid-March to mid-August and is played on Saturdays at the Te Awamutu Netball courts for children aged 7 (or turning 7 this year) and above. Parents are required to coach, manage and umpire teams. Practise is often held after school but will depend on the coaches’ availability. Each team is graded according to ability by playing grading games as set by the Te Awamutu netball club. A full uniform is provided by our OSSC club.  Future Ferns are generally children in their first year of netball age 7/8. The season starts mid-May and runs until mid-August. For further information please contact Ann-Marie Anainga on 021 171 3314.

Welcome to Ohaupo School Sports Club Soccer. We are a dedicated group who have a clear focus on giving children the opportunity to be able to play soccer in an environment with the goal of participation and having fun. We offer children aged between 4 and 13 from Ohaupo and surrounding areas the ability to join the WaiBOP federation and to play other teams from the Waikato district, with both home and away games. We hold training sessions on Thursday nights at the Ohaupo Rugby Club grounds from 6pm sharp. Our soccer calendar for the year so far: Saturday 15th March 10am - Our official Muster, registration, boot/gear swap, and general information for the season, late March to early April - Teams announced, uniforms distributed soon after mid-April - Thursday night training sessions start, Ohaupo Rugby Club grounds, 6pm start Early to Mid-May - Season starts, runs for 16 weeks (not through the holidays). For further details please contact Greg Taylor on 021 244 1446.

Basketball is played from May to October at the Te Awamutu event centre for year 5 to year 8 students. A full uniform is provided by the club. Practise depends on the team but is generally held on a Sunday afternoon at the Te Awamutu event centre. Keep an eye out for notices in the school newsletter.

Touch Rugby

Touch Rugby is played at Albert Park in Te Awamutu on Thursday afternoons in Term 4. It involves Year 5/6 and Year 7/8 students with teams being mixed boys and girls who then compete against surrounding Te Awamutu schools. This lasts for about 6 weeks of Term 4, finishing at the end of the year. Watch out for information in the school newsletter in Term 3.
